Class of 1967

Class of 1967 News:

One of our very own, Jerry Taylor, has written a play that will be performed as the spring musical at Abilene High on May 23rd and 24th. The musical is about our time at AHS and is called "Time of Innocence". Jerry has been working with the Drama Department, Choral Department and the students at AHS.  They are providing a lot of input on the play including costuming, sets, etc., In addition, Jerry has been in touch with people in the community and has made arrangements for the week leading up to the performance to be special with special activities planned to help showcase "Time of Innocence". The Mayor has designated that week as "Boomers Week".

Garlan Jenkens, AHS 67, (he's an art professor at ACU now) is setting up an art exhibit downtown.

There is to be a golf tournament at the Abilene Country Club on Saturday morning, May 24th.

Lynn Barnett at the Abilene Cultural Affairs Council is involved in various aspects helping us get the word out about the play. She is also helping organize special events downtown on the morning of May 24th for the ladies (so they have something to do during the golf tournament) which include shopping, art museums, etc.,

Jerry Taylor is working with Seaton Higginbotham (AHS 68), Arrow Ford, to have a special car show at the site of Mack's on North 1st with classic cars. Seaton is having a party at that location for the cast following the Friday night performance. Then Saturday night after the performance, there will be a party at the Bee Hive restaurant for the class of 67. The Vagabonds, who were Jerry Taylor's singing group at AHS and who are mentioned in the play, will perform for us at the party.

Jerry has set up a scholarship fund at AHS with proceeds from his play going to that scholarship fund. Every time the play is performed elsewhere, the scholarship fund will benefit.
